Ink, Wax and Watercolours with Claire Botterill

Mondays
10.00am- 12.00pm

Creating a painting in ink wax and watercolour is a great fun way of producing a work of art that is full of character and life.
It is a very relaxed and forgiving technique that creates a lovely image without being too controlled.
It can be used for all subjects successfully helping you to free up your approach and not be too critical if your original drawing isn’t as perfect as you may wish.
The watercolour washes over the brilliant coloured wax crayons give a delightful surprise and the inky darkness gives great tonal qualities with dramatic lights and darks.
Materials needed:-
Watercolour paper I use Bockingford 200lb
Water colour brushes
Coloured wax crayons Crayola are good but most childrens crayons are fine
A cartridge pen and black ink cartridges Parker cartridge pens an ordinary standard one usually has a very suitable nib

Acrylics painting with Barbara Hunt
Mondays
1.00pm-3.00pm

Acrylic paints are a very versatile medium and allow paintings to be built up slowly in stages or more spontaneously. Barbara is an experienced artist and tutor who takes the complete beginner or the more experienced artist through the process of acrylic painting. Barbara will show you how to paint at each stage and guide you when you find your own way of working. You will need to bring your own materials eventually but there will be things you can borrow to get you going.

Modern Mixed Media – Fiona Payne
Monday evening
7.00pm to 9.00 pm

Release your creativity! Learn how to create stunning abstract paintings.
Fiona trained originally in textiles and knitwear fashion design and has since undertaken various courses including digital photography, life drawing and painting. As a professional artist she teaches ‘A’ level students at her one day workshops in various local schools. Her own work is noted for its vibrant use of colour and its textural qualities, working in mixed media and concentrating in architectural forms and structures.
During these weekly classes you will firstly be creating a large “free” black and white sketch without using a pencil or paintbrush. You will be concentrating using still life groupings and sometimes photographs, turning a part of this sketch into an individual abstract painting, again not using a paint brush or pencil.
