About the weekly classes, one-off workshops and Julie Hyde

Our location

Patrick Farm Barns, is located in the rural part of the Midlands, it is between the two major cites of Birmingham and Coventry. It has easy access from road and rail networks although because the converted barns are still part of a working farm it retains the peaceful ambiance of the countryside.

What we focus on

The tutors focus on teaching the practicalities of art, giving the students the abilities and confidence to develop their interest in art however they wish. We like to help people of all abilities be it the complete beginner or the more advanced student. The aim of the centre is to enable anyone to appreciate, participate in and enjoy the arts.

What we do

As well as weekly classes there are lots of one-off workshops usually for a half day or a day. These are excellent opportunities to learn and practice a range of artistic skills – and take your work home at the end of the workshop. There is also a weekly 'open house' session on Friday mornings.

For information about current classes and forthcoming workshops click the Weekly Classes or One-off workshops links above.

Tutor: Julie Hyde, artist and founder of Centre of England Arts

Julie had a successful career in engineering and gave it up to follow her passion to teach art. She is the founder of the Centre of England Arts and runs several classes a week, giving structured lessons in drawing and watercolours with step-by-step instruction, demonstrations and practical work. All sorts of subjects are covered from still life, flowers and landscapes to portrait work. Julie's courses are suitable for beginners and those who are more advanced. She also runs occasional workshops in pastels, acrylics and life drawing.
